Rita Carter married David Blake in 1998.  David's roots are in Ohio and West Virginia, but he grew up on Carter Avenue in Fort Worth, Texas, and was an employee of Carter Blood Care in Fort Worth when he and Rita met.

In 2000, David and Rita moved to Southeast Asia to work in Bible translation and language development for minority language groups.  They now have four daughters--Anna Jayne (8), Ruby Elise (7), Laura Maria (5) and Mary Melati (3)--who enjoy eating mangoes, papayas and rambutan when in the tropics.

While anticipating their last trip to Minnesota, one of Anna's dreams for her July birthday was to pick lots of strawberries.  Tomatoes and cucumbers are her other favorites.  Ruby enjoys picking and eating the fresh peas and green onions.  Laura likes the chicken at Grandma Carter's the most.  Mary says, "When I go to the farm, I want to eat strawberries!"
